Iowa

Corn may work as bait, Iowa, but I think you'll do better with shad or artificials.
Change bait and send those pics!

The Yellow dots indicate the State Record (lb-oz or 00.00 lb), the Red dots are other fin locations that have been revealed to us. They link to Topozone maps that get you in the neighborhood, if not to the exact spot. The Photos name the location the fins were caught (if known). Thanks to Dave D (Osama Bin Bowfin) for this idea.

October 2006, Wapsipinicon River

Bagman,
My Dad, Vern H, 86 years young, with his Big Bowfin caught and released Sept. 30, 2006 on the Wapsipinicon River in eastern Iowa. Please post on your website. She put up a "whale" of a fight! She measured 34" and weighed in at 12 lbs. +

July 2004, Mississippi River - Gutenberg

Bagman, here are a couple of pictures of a Bowfin, I picked up on the Mississippi River in below the Guttenberg, Iowa dam. Note - the state record Bowfin 11# 7oz. was caught in the same general area 10 years ago. A valuable lesson, never try to thumb land a Bowfin!
